

Jane McKee

Jane McKee is a songwriter, singer, and guitarist originally from Westchester, New York. Jane took up guitar at age ten and began writing and performing her own songs as soon as she learned her first chords. Jane’s musical pursuits continued throughout high school. She was the lead vocalist in her high school jazz band and sang in her school's chorus. Outside of school, she continued writing songs and formed numerous bands with friends. She has played venues such as the Bitter End, Crash Mansion, and Café Vivaldi in New York City. During the summers, she taught songwriting, basic music theory, and guitar classes to children at Music in Chappaqua. She also attended a conservatory prep program focusing on songwriting at the Lagond School of music as well as a guitar intensive program at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London.
In 2012, Jane was accepted into the Bruce Hornsby Creative American Music Program in the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami as a songwriter with a contemporary vocal focus. She graduated from Frost in 2017. She has played in numerous ensembles within the University of Miami and was President of an on-campus organization that hosts student and local band performances every week. She was also a lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist in the Miami indie-pop band, The Returns.
In the summer of 2015, Jane toured with a group of three other musicians. The two-week long tour ran from Miami, up to Chicago, and over to New York. The tour consisted of smaller open mic performances as well as paid gigs at venues such as the High Dive in Gainesville, Florida.
